The Loss of a Companion Animal

We here at the MSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital want to tell you how sorry we are for the loss you are experiencing. For many people this is a very devastating time and some may not have friends who really understand the enormity of this loss. I hope you have many people who will help you through this time. We are inviting you to join our group that meets the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

Each of us has experienced this loss and suffered greatly. Our experience is that the painful times lessen. There will always be a feeling of loss when you think of your companion. However, eventually the times become fewer and do not last as long. The group has helped so many people work through the grief in a safe place where you are free to express your grief, anger, depression, or what ever you are experiencing today, and it changes nearly day by day. It will get better and then be more difficult again.
